Our ActiLingua student Ayano from Japan answered a few questions. Now we know what she likes about the German language and if anything about Vienna surprised her.

I’m from Japan.
What is the difference between Vienna and your hometown?
In Japan, timber constructions are very common. Here, you can see many brick buildings. Regarding the food, dishes in Vienna are richer than in Japan.
Did anything about Vienna surprise you?
Everywhere in Vienna is very beautiful and concert tickets are often very cheap.
How would you describe your typical day?
I play piano and viola. Afterwards, I go to school and study German. In the afternoon, I usually cook and go out shopping. In the evening, I sometimes watch a film.
What do you like about the German language?
The „Satzklammer“, pronunciation and flexion.
Did you have a fun experience in Vienna?
On New Year’s Eve, there were a lot of fireworks and dozens of people made a racket. That was funny!
What is typically Austrian?
Being friendly, but not engaging with people too much, mild weather and being proud of their country.
What is an absolute „must eat/ drink“ in Vienna?
Palatschinken (Pancakes), Sacher cake and a Melange (coffee with milk).
